MT2 preparation and examination plan

The supplied timetable schedules Deep Learning MT2 for Tuesday, 13 October 2026, 3:00–4:00 pm, for 10 marks.

Faculty update received on 12 October: prepare Unit 3 (optimization and regularization) and Unit 4 (CNNs) for theory and numericals. The message highlights possible Unit 3 numericals and two Unit 4 numericals. The 2-mark questions can combine theory and a numerical or be theory only.

Three 3-mark choices, as clarified: either Numerical + Numerical + Theory, or one mixed Theory-and-Numerical question + one Numerical + one Theory question. Their exact order and numerical topics are not specified.

The common M2 layout already supplied is Q1(a,b), 2 marks each, compulsory; answer any two of Q2–Q4, 3 marks each. Our mocks use this layout. Their exact topic allocation is practice design, not an official prediction.

Maths, losses, gradients and the neuron model remain prerequisite explanations. RNN is not named in this faculty update and is now kept in the TEE route, outside this focused MT2 reading path.
