MT2 preparation and examination plan

Both practice papers have 60 minutes and 10 attempted marks. Q1(a,b) contributes 4 compulsory marks; any two 3-mark questions contribute 6 marks. All five answers are provided so every alternative can be studied.

Mock A practises theory-only Q1 plus Numerical + Numerical + Theory among Q2–Q4, with both long numericals from Unit 4. Mock B practises a theory/numerical Q1 plus Theory-and-Numerical mixed + Numerical + Theory among Q2–Q4. Its mixed question is from Unit 3; the other two questions are from Unit 4. These match the two clarified combinations; exact topic assignment is practice design.

How the supplied papers ask questions

Use the Unit 3 and Unit 4 historical questions under Solved Questions for longer numerical variations and theory preparation. Historical 5/10-mark questions retain their original marks; they are not predictions of MT2 marks. The new faculty message takes priority over the older provisional course-policy scope inference.

For Unit 3, be ready to differentiate the supplied objective, initialize optimizer state, compute the requested iterations and explain the mechanism. For Unit 4, be ready to compute feature maps, pool them, track tensor dimensions, count parameters, compare computational cost and explain the named architectures. Prepare theory from both units even when practising numericals.
