### Q1C. Describe in detail citing any 3 relevant examples, how Training and Drills create awareness about Disaster Response. [5 marks]

#### Answer

1. **Earthquake drill.** Participants rehearse Drop, Cover and Hold On, followed by safe evacuation when shaking stops and conditions permit. This makes the distinction between protection during shaking and later movement clear.
2. **Fire drill.** Occupants recognise the alarm, use designated exits and report to the assembly point. Wardens practise headcounts and identify blocked routes.
3. **Cyclone evacuation drill.** Residents practise receiving warnings, using transport and reaching designated shelters, including assisted evacuation. The drill turns a forecast into a rehearsed community action.

Debriefing explains why each action matters and corrects errors before a real emergency.

#### Illustrative application · A school evacuation drill

A planned drill tests whether alarms are understood, routes are usable, people needing assistance receive it and everyone reaches the assembly point. The debrief identifies bottlenecks and changes the plan. Merely walking outside without review is an incomplete exercise.
